Planning a Visit

ButeCaerphilly Castle Town is on the northern edge of Caerphilly County Borough, on the edge of the Brecon Beacons  National Park. The area is easy to get to on A465, by train to Rhymney or by bus (the nearest bus stop is Rhymney Bridge) – detailed routes and timetables for all public transport can be found at Traveline Cymru. green_link_icon.png

The area has a wealth of places to visit including:

  • Winding House blue_link_icon.png – The Museum for Caerphilly County Borough which gives an insight into the changing fortunes of the area. 
  • Llancaiach Fawr blue_link_icon.png – A step back in time to 1645.
  • Cwmcarn Forest blue_link_icon.png - Mountain bike and walk routes for the energetic, and fresh air to rejuvenate everybody.
  • Caerphilly Castle blue_link_icon.png - With its own leaning tower.
